Franco Brusa

Franco Brusa was born in Lugano on 23 October 1957. After completing primary and high school in Lugano and junior college in Ascona, where he obtained the federal maturity diploma in 1977, he studied law at the University of Bern graduating in 1981.

After a stint of judicial clerking at the Lugano District Court he spent a short period of time in London to perfect his English-language skills, after which he began his required time of legal and notarial clerking in the law offices of Bolla Bonzanigo (1982-1984). In 1984 he was admitted to the Bar for the Canton of Ticino and in 1986 for the Canton of Grisons; in the same year he obtained his (civil law) notary’s license in Ticino.

Upon passing his attorneys’ and notary’s exams Mr. Brusa continued working within the Firm as an associate; in 1993 he became partner. Starting in 2002 he took an interest in mediation and attended first the entry-level course at the University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI), which in November 2002 led to the title of mediator with the Swiss Attorneys Federation (FSA), after which – from April to June 2005, also at SUPSI – he attended the postgraduate course for mediation in business and in the public sector. From 2010 is mediator of Swiss Mediators Federation (FSM).

Mr. Brusa has a predilection for commercial and international private law, contract law in general, trademark and unfair competition law, inheritance law, business-related criminal law and intellectual property law. He is also particularly active in arbitration where he has considerable experience, especially on an international level. He serves as an arbitrator for the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC – CCI) and of the Committee of the Southern Switzerland section of the Swiss Chamber for Business Mediation.
